Abstract

The problem of preterm birth is one of the urgent medical and social problems in obstetrics. Despite significant progress in the development of new tocolytic drugs, the incidence of preterm birth does not show a clear downward trend. The article presents the results of scientific research on the inhibition of spontaneous contractile activity of the uterus during preterm birth, which increases the chances of survival of the newborn.

Atosiban is the first drug specifically designed to suppress labor. Comparing it with other drugs with a tocolytic effect, it was shown that in terms of efficacy, safety and tolerability, atosiban is not inferior, but superior to them in the treatment of pregnant women with threatened preterm birth.
