The article analyzes the linguistic theories of the comic, which help to identify the mechanisms of perception of comic information; the structures of knowledge involved in humorous acts, the functions of the comic and the linguistic means of its implementation, as well those manifestations of the phenomenon of the comic that have not yet been sufficiently studied.
